Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
