The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
