The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 shun uncleanness; 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 Burning the skins! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
