And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We chastised them.
