The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
