The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
