The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
