The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
