The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
