Have you not seen how your Lord lengthens the shadows? Had He pleased, He could have made them constant; then We placed the sun as an indicator for them, 45 We then gradually withdraw it towards Us. 46 And it is He who has made the night for you as clothing and sleep [a means for] rest and has made the day a resurrection. 47 And He it is Who sendeth the winds, glad tidings heralding His mercy, and We send down purifying water from the sky, 48 so that He may revive the dead land, and quench the thirst of many of His creatures from among beasts and men. 49 We present the same phenomenon over and over again before them so that they may learn a lesson from it; but most people decline to adopt any other attitude than of disbelief and ingratitude. 50 Had it been Our Will, We could have sent a warner to every centre of population. 51 Se obey not thou the infidels, but strive against them therewith with a great striving. 52 ۞ And it is He who hath mixed the two seas: this, sweet and thirst quenching; that, saltish and bitter; and hath placed between the twain a barrier and a great partition complete. 53 And it is He who hath created man from water, and then made for him kinship by blood and marriage. And thy Lord is ever potent. 54 And they serve besides Allah that which neither profits them nor causes them harm; and the unbeliever is a partisan against his Lord. 55 And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. 56 Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this (that which I have brought from my Lord and its preaching, etc.), save that whosoever wills, may take a Path to his Lord. 57 And rely on the Ever-living Who dies not, and celebrate His praise; and Sufficient is He as being aware of the faults of His servants, 58 (It is) He who, in six days created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, and then He willed to the Throne. The Merciful; ask about Him from he who knows Him. 59 But when they are told, 'Bow yourselves to the All-merciful,' they say, 'And what is the All-merciful? Shall we bow ourselves to what thou biddest us?' And it increases them in aversion. ۩ 60
