Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 A Book, the verses of which are distinguished, an Arabic Koran for a nation who know. 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 And they say, “Our hearts are covered against the affair you call us to, and there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you – therefore mind your own business, we are minding ours.” 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
