The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
