The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He hath created man. 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
