When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
