The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
