The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
