Let the dead earth be a Sign for them. We gave it life and produced from it grain whereof they eat. 33 and We made therein gardens of palms and vines, and therein We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands did not make it; will they not then be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created all the sexual pairs, of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves, and of that which they know not! 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip the day out of it, thereupon they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. 38 We have determined the stations of the moon, so that (after its wanderings) it returns as a dried up inflorescent spike of dates. 39 The sun cannot overtake the moon, nor can the night outpace the day: each floats in [its own] orbit. 40 And a sign to them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship. 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto whereon they ride. 42 If it were Our Will, We could drown them: then would there be no helper (to hear their cry), nor could they be delivered, 43 Unless by mercy from Us, and as a comfort for a while. 44 When it is said to them: 'Have fear of that which is before you and behind you in order that you find mercy' 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." 47 And they say: "When will this promise come to pass, if what you say is true?" 48 They will not have to wait long. When the Day of Judgment comes, it will only take a single blast of sound to strike them while they are quarrelling with one another. 49 and they will not even be able to make a testament, nor to return to their households. 50
