And in the past We gave Moses the Book and yet it became an object of dispute. If your Lord's decree had not gone forth before, a decisive judgement would have been made among them, once and for all. Surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it. 45 Whoever does good does so for himself, and whoever does wrong bears the guilt thereof. Your Lord does no wrong to His creatures. 46 ۞ The knowledge of the Hour rests solely with Him. Not a fruit comes forth from its sheath, nor does any female conceive nor give birth to a child but it is in His knowledge. On that Day He will call out to them: “Where are those associates of Mine?” They will answer: “We have declared to You that none of us can bear witness to that.” 47 And lost from them will be those they were invoking before, and they will be certain that they have no place of escape. 48 Man tireth not of praying for good, and if ill toucheth him, then he is disheartened, desperate. 49 And if We let him taste mercy from Us after hardship that has visited him, he surely says, 'This is mine; I think not the Hour is coming. If I am returned to my Lord, surely the reward most fair with Him will be mine.' Then We shall tell the unbelievers the things they have done, and assuredly We shall let them taste a harsh chastisement. 50 And when We shew favour unto man, he turneth aside and withdraweth on his side, and when evil toucheth him, then he is full of prolonged prayer. 51 Say: 'What think you? If it is from God, then you disbelieve in it, who is further astray than he who is in wide schism?' 52 We shall show them Our signs in the horizons and in themselves, till it is clear to them that it is the truth. Suffices it not as to thy Lord, that He is witness over everything? 53 Yet they still doubt that they will ever meet their Lord. Surely, He encompasses all things. 54
