Ha. Mim. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 verily We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 And from* His bondmen, they appointed a portion for Him; man is indeed an open ingrate. (* Appointed some of His creation as His sons and daughters). 15
