The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
