And assuredly We have created human being from ringing clay of loam moulded. 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 [Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled. 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
