Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning - 3 On that night is made distinct every precise matter - 4 [Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] 5 as a Mercy from your Lord. Surely He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing, 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye would be sure. 7 There is no god other than He, who gives you life and death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 8 Aye! they're in doubt sporting. 9 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke, 10 Covering the people; this is a painful torment. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 But how will they take heed? Such are they that a Messenger came to them clearly expounding the Truth, 13 but then they turned away from him, saying: 'He is tutored, mad' 14 We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways). 15 One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution! 16 ۞ AND, INDEED, [long] before their time did We try Pharaoh's people [in the same way]: for there came unto them a noble apostle, [who said:] 17 "Deliver the creatures of God to me. I am the trusted messenger sent to you. 18 And saying, “And do not rebel against Allah; I have brought a clear proof to you.” 19 I have taken refuge in my Lord and your Lord against your stoning me to death. 20 But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone." 21 Then he called upon his Lord: these are a people guilty. 22 'Then set thou forth with My servants in a watch of the night; surely you will be followed. 23 and leave the sea becalmed [between thee and Pharaoh's men]: for, verily, they are a host destined to be drowned!" 24 How many were the gardens, springs, 25 And cornfields and goodly positions. 26 And favours amongst which they were rejoicing! 27 Thus it was; and We passed them on to another people. 28 And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. 29

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
