and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play. 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Save those on whom Allah will have mercy. Verily He! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
