The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 and by the Book in lines 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 and the sea that is full 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
