Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 and by the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
