Nay, and by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 About the criminals, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
