The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
