The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 on a Great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On couches, gazing, 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
