The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
