The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The All-merciful 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 Created man, 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
