Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 "The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons." 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
