The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 on raised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
