Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
