Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 Leave Me to those who cry lies, those prosperous ones, and respite them a little, 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
