Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
