The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
