۞ No sooner the example of the son of Mary was mentioned than, lo and behold, your people raised a clamour 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 He was naught but a servant on whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the children of Israel. 59 And had We so willed, [O you who worship angels,] We could indeed have made you into angels succeeding one another on earth! 60 And lo! verily there is knowledge of the Hour. So doubt ye not concerning it, but follow Me. This is the right path. 61 And let not Shaitan (Satan) hinder you (from the right religion, i.e. Islamic Monotheism), Verily, he (Satan) to you is a plain enemy. 62 When Jesus came with clear signs, he said, "Now I have come to you with wisdom, in order to make clear to you some of the things about which you dispute: therefore fear God and obey me. 63 Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path. 64 Then the groups differed amongst themselves; therefore ruin is for the unjust by the punishment of an agonising day. 65 Are they waiting (for any thing) but the Hour (of Doom) which would descend upon them suddenly, and catch them unawares? 66 On that Day close friends shall become enemies of each other, except those who fear (Allah). 67
