The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
