The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
