And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 Then they accused them of lies, and joined the company of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
