I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning for people -- 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the criminals, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until death approached us". 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
