The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
