He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
