The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and hastily turned away, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
