The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people together 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
