The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
