The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
