He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And hath fear, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 with darkness overspread: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
