He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you give attention. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
