The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
